Admission Requirements
Local Students
To be eligible for admission as a regular student the application must have:
Completed higher secondary education (12 years of schooling pre-university education) under a system different from SSC/HSC or O/A-Levels will be considered for equivalent by the University on a case to case basis.
A minimum GPA of 2.5 each in SSC/Equivalence and HSC/equivalence examination and Candidates with GPA 2.00 in any examination must have minimum GPA 6.00 combined.
For English Medium students, B Grade/GPA 4.0 and for A-Level students two subjects with minimum C Grade/GPA 3.5 for O-Level students five subjects with minimum.
In case of the ward of Freedom Fighter, at least GPA 5.00 combined in SSC/Dakhil, HSC/Alim or Equivalent Examination is required.
Students must have had Physics and Mathematics in HSC/A-Level or equivalent level with fulfilling the above criteria.
International Students
Individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Bangladesh are defined as international applicants. International applicants seeking admission into City University must meet the same academic standards as those required for Bangladeshi students. There are wide variations, however, among educational systems throughout the world that make an exact comparison of educational standards difficult. International applicants are selected on the basis of their prior academic results, English proficiency, probability of success in the chosen curriculum as evidenced by prior work in the academic area involved, and certification of adequate financial resources.
About Program
Welcome to the fantastic world of Mechanical Engineering! It may be emphasized here that the students who will admit in the department are going to dominate in most of the world’s top listed universities on pursuing more advanced studies and in the technological innovation centers worldwide as innovative researchers, faculty staff or industrial personnel. This is where you come in. We are constantly seeking out the brightest and most promising applicants for our prestigious and growing Mechanical Engineering program.
With the combined effort of rich faculty members and staffs the graduates of this department are distinctively contributing to the development of the country. There is a dynamic and adaptive policy in this program in order to keep up with country’s industrial research and development needs along with rapid global technological progress. The main objectives of this department are to maintain a high standard of mechanical engineering education through excellent teaching-learning and innovative curricula that reflect the changing needs of the society demonstrate and disseminate research outcomes through publications and undertake collaborative research to create opportunities for long term interaction with academia and industries.
The aim of the department is to provide the students with a perfect blend of theoretical and practical experiences that helps them to serve the society and address a variety of needs. At the end of the program, students are prepared for entry-level work as a mechanical engineer as well as for the post-graduate study in mechanical engineering or in another discipline, where a fundamental engineering background constitutes a desirable foundation. The graduates from the Department of Mechanical Engineering have been very successful and have risen to distinguished positions in the industry, government, and academia at home and abroad.

About Program
The Department of Civil Engineering offers a 4 year Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program for prospective undergraduate students. This curriculum is offered for students seeking a broad and deep knowledge of the theory, design, and applications. In parallel to the theory, students attend semester classes, industrial visits, and training programs.
In the curriculum for the undergraduate program, besides the professional courses of Civil Engineering, there is a strong emphasis on acquiring a thorough knowledge in Basic Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Due importance is also given for the study of several in General Education which is expected will help the student to interact more positively with the society in which he lives. Thus, the course contents of the undergraduate programs provide a blend of basic sciences and their engineering applications as well as their social relevance.
The first three semesters are spent on GEC, Basic Science, Mathematics, and an introduction to fundamental areas of Civil Engineering. The last two years complete the development of knowledge in most of the major branches of Civil Engineering and related topics. The fourth and subsequent semesters build directly on the knowledge of the basic subjects gained in the first three semesters and go on to develop competence in specific disciplines. In the fourth year, the students get the opportunity to choose some optional specialized courses and carryout comprehensive and thesis work. The Project and Thesis work provide an opportunity to develop initiative, self-, creative ability, and engineering judgments.
The undergraduate students of the Department of Civil Engineering have to follow the course schedule given below. The letter prefix in any course number indicates the department offering the course viz. CE for Civil Engineering, WRE for Water Resources Engineering, EEE for Electrical Engineering, CHE for Chemistry, PHY for Physics, MAT for Mathematics, GEC for General Education course and Shop for Workshops. There is a plan to offer M.Sc. in Civil Engineering in the near future.

About Program
Individuals who have the passion, aspiration and enthusiam to facilitate our health care syetem through professional pharmaceutical skills are encouraged to apply for Department of Pharmacy, City University. The department focuses to prepare competent students for the dynamic fields of pharmaceutical industry, hospital and clinical pharmacy as well as academic sectors. With the successful completion of this degree students will be able to explore the infinite opportunities of healthcare sectors.
Program structure
The purpose of introducing Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) curriculum in City University is to introduce beginning pharmacy students to the technologic and scientific principles underlying the preparation of dosage forms and drug delivery systems and to their use in patient care. Through an integrated course curriculum students will gain an understanding of the interrelationships between physical pharmacy principles, bio-pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics, dosage form design, product formulation, small- and large-scale product manufacture, and the clinical application of pharmaceuticals in patient care.
A 4 year (8 semesters) Pharmacy undergraduate programme has been designed including topics of recent trends in this field. The principal objectives of this curriculum are:
- To impart scientific knowledge for the identification, formulations, preparation, standardization, quality control and uses of drugs and medicines and effective management of their distribution and sale.
- To produce a skilled manpower to manage the affairs of hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical industries, community pharmacy services, drug administration and other organizations in drug research, marketing, sales and administration.
- To encourage research on different fields of pharmacy so as to develop newer techniques of formulation, quality control and standardization of drugs.
Requirements for degree awarding (Courses, Reports, Thesis, etc.)
The course curriculum of the Department of Pharmacy is accredited by the rules and regulation of Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh. The total Credit requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) are 170. Out of these 15 Credits are Pharmacy Support Courses, 4 Credits are Pharmacy Electives which is compulsory as per requirement of the City University. The departmental Core Courses account for 145 Credits (theoretical, + practical), 2 Credits for Pharmacy internship and 4 Credits for thesis /project and its defense.
Assignment of Credits
- Theoretical Courses: Two lectures per week per semester will be equivalent to Three Credits.
